Approximately 120 people attended the groundbreaking for the new Mohave County Animal shelter Monday afternoon, Feb. 6, at 3629 N. Burbank. The state-of-the-art facility is scheduled to be completed in Spring 2024.
Shelter Manager Nicole Mangiameli says it will “comfortably house over a hundred dogs and cats” in separate quarters. The new 9,000 sq. ft. indoor facility will be located on three acres. Initially, it includes a medical room to treat sick or injured animals, separate isolation rooms to abate the spread of illness, two large play areas for dogs, and a spacious lobby to accommodate visitors.
