Manufacturing Day began in New Jersey in 2012. Two years later, President Obama signed a proclamation making the first Friday in October National Manufacturing Day - a day for “American manufacturers to open their doors and take up the important work of inspiring young people to pursue careers in manufacturing and engineering.” Since 2014, Manufacturing Day has grown to Manufacturing Month, expanding the impact of the “important work.”

Manufacturing Day the Kingman Way

Staying within the vein of “inspiring young people,” the Kingman Unified School District’s Career and Technical Education (KUSD CTE), in partnership with Kingman and Mohave Manufacturing Association (KAMMA), will honor Manufacturing Day on October 26, 2023, at Kingman’s Airport Industrial Park.

Kingman’s Airport Industrial Park is the manufacturing mall of the city. Participating businesses will open their doors and provide informative tours from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. in an effort to capture the hearts and minds of Kingman’s up-and-coming high school graduates and possibly introduce future employees to their future workplaces.

Students ages 16+ will be transported by bus to each location. To ensure all students and each business share in the full experience, tours of 10 students per chaperone will last no more than 40 minutes each. Safety glasses and earplugs will be provided during the welcome session, and each business will supply additional PPE (personal protective equipment) as needed.

Participants include businesses in the following manufacturing industries:

  • PVC piping
  • Fiber optics
  • Cabinetry
  • Steel wire reinforcement
  • Aviation
  • Aerospace

Kingman Economic Development (ED) is excited that KUSD’s CTE program is heading such a wonderful event in partnership with the KAMMA. This annual event is always a success and helps secure the city of Kingman’s workforce. We are certain the labor put in by the unsung hero behind the scenes this year, Beth VanHoose, will produce the best fruit.

Chambers throughout Arizona will also be celebrating Manufacturing Day on October 26 - 27, 2023.

Thank you, Lomanco Vents

Also participating in KUSD’s Manufacturing Day is veteran residential ventilation manufacturer, Lomanco Vents. Lomanco Vents has been in business for over 75 years and is still going strong. Since the early 80s, it's been a manufacturing staple in the City of Kingman.

Kingman ED thanks Lomanco Vents for their continued dedication to manufacturing excellence, Kingman’s workforce, and the future of Kingman.
