Celebrating Kingman Parks & Recreation for National Park & Recreation Month

The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) has celebrated Park and Recreation Month for almost four decades. When Park and Recreation Month started, it was to promote the building of parks and recreational options to help strengthen communities throughout the nation. Each year, the theme changes, while the goal stays the same. This year’s theme is Where You Belong, celebrating “the many ways park and recreation professionals … foster a sense of belonging … by providing welcoming and inclusive programs, essential services for all ages and abilities, and safe, accessible spaces to build meaningful connections,” NRPA.

Kingman Parks & Recreation

National Park and Recreation Month is about the people who do the work that benefits each community. Kingman Park and Recreation does the work that not only benefits the 17 parks and recreational facilities, but enhances the quality of life for current and future residents.

As the website states, “The Kingman Parks and Recreation Department provides residents with a wide variety of life-enriching classes, special events, trips, athletic opportunities, and workshops. We strive to provide our community with safe, clean, pleasing park facilities that will meet the recreational needs of the entire community.”

It’s because of Kingman Parks & Recreation, that the City of Kingman offers numerous outdoor activities that are perfect for the solo adventurer or family looking for their ideal picnic spot. From pickleball to hiking to skateboarding to swimming to lawn sports, fun in the sun is easy to find in Kingman! And we can’t forget the golf course where games are played and business deals are made.

Thank You, Kingman Parks and Recreation

Kingman Economic Development (ED) is taking this time to highlight the Kingman Parks & Recreation Department for its dedication to the residents and visitors of Kingman. As economic developers, we understand the direct correlation between park visitations and economic development in Kingman. The money spent on park admission, annual passes, and activities helps the preserves hire park rangers and other stewards of our natural assets.

Contributions also support the upkeep of the parks, including the removal of invasive species and litter, which can be harmful to local wildlife and residents. This maintenance is another aspect of improving the quality of life in Kingman and makes it a desirable place to live.

For free admission locations, visits to local parks still make an economic impact. The foot traffic and visitor counts are monitored. Stable attendance numbers could lead to additional funding for the park and programs for kids, families, and adults alike.

Kingman ED thanks and celebrates all park and recreation professionals, workers, and volunteers. Your dedication to keeping Kingman beautiful, our residents connected, and visitors entertained is greatly appreciated. Your efforts add to Kingman being a great place to live, grow, and thrive.
