Kingman’s Invitation to Industrial Park

News
As we move into December’s Write A Business Plan Month, Kingman Economic Development (ED) invites organizations in the research and development, aerospace, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, distribution, childcare, and tech industries to choose Kingman for your location. Though business plans are usually roadmaps for three to five years into the future, an annual review helps to maintain the company’s goals and highlights possible adjustments at the beginning stages. One shakeup could be location and expansion. Kingman ED invites you to choose Kingman and start anew.
Why Choose Kingman?
Kingman, Arizona is the number one global tourist destination on historic Route 66! Over 60 buildings are listed on the National Historic Register. Local businesses have access to 34M people within a day’s drive and 40K vehicles passing by daily. The cost of living is 5.1% lower than the national average with a state and local tax at 9.5%, lower than any Southwest state. Mohave County has zero county sales tax, which is the lowest in Arizona. However, there is a $0.19 gasoline tax drastically lower than California’s $0.68 per gallon. And let’s not forget the great weather for outdoor enthusiasts.
Kingman Airport and Industrial Park
Kingman Airport and Industrial Park (The Park) is the perfect place to expand, relocate, or start your business. The Park is the cornerstone of Kingman’s local economy, the largest industrial park in Northern Arizona, and the largest rail-served park outside Maricopa County with space for your enterprise.
The Park is in a prime location. Sharing open land with Kingman Municipal Airport, The Park sits at a major transportation corridor within a day's drive of Southern California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Southern Arizona, and Mexico. It is a critical logistics hub just north of I-40 and US Hwy 93, on Route 66, adjacent to the two-runway airport, offering reduced shipping and delivery costs for warehouses shipping goods and plants receiving necessary parts for production. The Park is in a privileged position being located on the same land as the airport. While most businesses cut off next-day delivery orders around noon or 1 p.m., Park businesses can ship as late as 4 p.m. for next-day delivery, lending a three-hour time gap many other shipping businesses can not offer. Longer order hours to satisfy next-day deliveries equal higher profits.
Manufacturing plants and distribution centers are a natural fit for The Park. Because of The Park’s closeness to the airport and rail access, aeronautical manufacturing businesses could reap immediate benefits. Yet, Kingman ED sees strong potential for new and emerging industries, especially those with scalable facilities. The Park is also ideal for commercial enterprises looking to tap into regional transportation and growing industrial hubs.
The Park offers much space for innovation and growth. With such potential, it stands to reason why childcare would be a factor and a desired industry for parents employed at The Park. A childcare facility would serve as a valuable retention tool, helping reduce employee turnover and improve job satisfaction while increasing availability and productivity.
Kingman’s Workforce
In 2022, 2023, and 2024, Arizona was ranked one of America’s top 10 states with the best workers, mainly due to the growing, educated workforce with over 30% having earned a bachelor’s degree or higher. Because the city believes that a person’s dedication to continuing their education or developing a new skill base is critical to ongoing improvement, Kingman has local educational and training institutions:
- Mohave Community College - MCC
- Northern Arizona University at Mohave Community College - NAU at MCC
- Western Arizona Vocational Education District #50 - WAVE
Kingman’s pool of educated, driven, and talented workforce offers businesses competitive advantages over other Southwestern communities.
Kingman’s Quality of Life
There’s no escaping the obvious, Kingman is in the desert. Yet, as the brochure states, “Kingman has it all … excellent quality of life. Kingman offers a family-friendly atmosphere, mild weather, scenic views, and an abundance of outdoor activities.”
Kingman offers educational options to meet any family’s needs. From preschool to high school, parents can choose:
- Kingman Academy of Learning
- Kingman Unified School District
- Arizona Virtual Academy
- Emmanuel Christian Academy
- Hualapai Hills Home Schoolers
Kingman cares about education, children, and the community. Healthcare is a principal industry and Kingman Regional Medical Center is the largest healthcare provider in Mohave County. Also recognized as an innovator in rural medicine.
Kingman thrives on community engagement and involvement. Throughout the year, there are multiple shows, outdoor concerts, block parties, seasonal festivals, fairs, and many other ways for residents to have fun while bonding. Visit Kingman’s Arts & Culture page, and watch the video for a visual presentation of Kingman’s outdoor adventures. With average high temps hitting 96 degrees most of the year, residents enjoy biking, picnics, and hiking. Kingman has multiple trail systems for hikers of all levels or for taking a nature walk on a brisk morning.
A Word from Terri Curtis
Economic Development Project Manager Terri Curtis’ primary focus is managing Kingman Airport and Industrial Park. Curtis works closely with businesses and developers to ensure smooth operations and successful developments. For businesses in the development phases, Curtis will be your liaison and facilitator assisting with services from utility company connections to being a guide through tax incentives, workforce development, housing, and more.
We spoke with Curtis regarding The Park’s purpose and place in Kingman. Here’s what she had to say:
“I believe the businesses in The Park are responsible for providing the majority of job opportunities for residents of Kingman and the surrounding areas. These jobs, in turn, fuel our local economy as employees spend their income within the city, supporting local businesses, and contributing to city services. The Park doesn’t just create direct employment, it also generates a ripple effect, benefiting supporting industries such as logistics, maintenance, and supply services. This creates even more jobs and opportunities for growth within the community. The Kingman Airport, located within The Park, provides essential connectivity and enhances accessibility.
Kingman offers an outstanding quality of life for The Park employees and their families. In addition to job opportunities, residents can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreational activities including UTV, horseback riding, water sports on the nearby rivers & lakes, as well as fishing, boating, and jet skiing. There are also wineries, natural springs, museums, and numerous local events like the I ♥ 66 Festival, rodeo competitions, and the famous Route 66 Fun Run. These benefits make The Park a compelling destination for businesses seeking growth, connectivity, and a great community for their workforce. The Park is more than just a business hub. It’s a vital part of Kingmans’ economic future and a key driver of the region’s prosperity.”
